ABOUT THE ARTIST
Artist Statement:

I create art as a way to connect with myself. For me, art is not just a beautiful object to look at, but an experience. The process of creating a painting is a labor of love and I find a sense of contentment within it.

I enjoy using landscapes to express a mood or a particular aesthetic, and as a means to engage with a memory or past experience. I am currently experimenting with materials, process, and expression in my artworks, and I intend to continue this process. My paintings are typically large scale on canvas and are made using oil paint, though I enjoy mixing medias, such as acrylic, pens, pencils, charcoal, molding paste and found materials. I gravitate towards a naturalistic style of art, but my material experimentation has led me to include texture in my paintings, such as the scrape of a palate knife, layering molding paste. I also have found a love for text in my artworks. Adding poems and journal entries I have written in the backgrounds, allowing some fragments to be shown and others hidden, have begun to create a hidden narrative within the elements of my landscapes.
