​​​The word Wonder came to be sophomore year of high school, 2019, right when I started to become passionate about art. I was painting in my room one night, a blue mountain-scape, and listening to Wonder by Shawn Mendes. It sounds silly, a teenage girl listening to a pop hit and painting, but it’s true, that song really meant a lot to me and the word even more. The song was about daring to wonder, to question why things are the way they are, and to dare to dream bigger. It almost seems magical. When I look at the world, and I don’t mean just glance, but when I sit still, and I really look out at the world, and the landscapes around me, I notice so much. A stray snowflake falling. Ice clinging to a branch. The sharp contrast of the warm tones of the grass with the blue hue of the distant mountains. The dynamic peaks and valleys of the mountain range, swooping up and down, back and forwards. So much to analyze and take in and I begin to feel so small. It’s a feeling hard to describe and easier to experience, which is the reason I paint. I create art to evoke that feeling of wonder, of inspiration, and bring a little magic to the everyday. Titling my business Wonder only felt natural.
